Thank youPosted on Jennifer HegartyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recently worked with Elite Home Inspections for a comprehensive analysis of my home’s environment and indoor air quality. The inspection focused on the entire house with specialized testing for mold, particle analysis, VOCs and formaldehyde. I was very pleased with the experience overall. I really appreciated how quick the entire process was. I called with an inquiry on a Tuesday and had an appointment to take samples the following Monday. The results came back on Wednesday and Saturday. So less than 10 days from the first call to all of my test results in my hands. In addition to providing me with the detailed lab reports, Paul Parella called me to explain my results and was available for any additional questions. He also summarized each report in layperson language which helped immensely. It set the tone for reviewing the reports and helped me to focus on the most relevant aspects. I also learned a lot during the inspection and sampling. Evan came out to assess my house and let me walk around with him and ask questions while he pointed out potential issues. He spent over two hours on the inspection and testing and was happy to answer any and all questions. He also gave me good recommendations when I asked for them. The main reason I wanted to go with a company like Elite is that they are an independent inspector and not a company that also does mold remediation. I wanted an impartial opinion and I really feel that is exactly what I got. I learned a lot, I got some great recommendations and I have scientific reports to back everything up. I also liked their pricing structure. Each sample is a la carte so you can pick and choose the specific items you want to measure based on your particular home and any suspected issues. Since I was unsure of what I needed, I opted for a comprehensive set of tests that covered the full spectrum. I could have easily just focused on mold or just on VOC. It was nice to have that kind of flexibility. Paul also went over every test and its cost with me so I had all of that information up front before I even made the appointment. I really liked this as it let me be in control of where to place my focus. It also gave me a ballpark of where the final cost would end up. If you suspect you are having any environmental issues, I highly recommend having your home inspected. Even if you learn that you don’t have any major problem areas, that is wonderful for your piece of mind. I would work with Elite again. They were quick, efficient, thorough, patient and very nice. Frequently Asked Questions About Mold Inspections in Boston
How much does a mold inspection cost in Boston?
The cost of a mold inspection can vary depending on several factors, including the size of the property, the areas of concern, and whether testing is recommended. Every situation is different, which is why most inspections begin with an evaluation of the home and the specific concerns before determining whether additional testing is necessary.
When should mold testing be performed?
Mold testing is often recommended when there is a musty odor, recent water damage, visible staining, or concerns about indoor air quality. Testing can help determine the types and concentrations of mold spores present in the air or on surfaces. In many cases, an inspection is performed first to determine whether testing will provide meaningful information.
Can mold grow after water damage?
Yes. Mold can begin growing within 24–48 hours after water intrusion if building materials remain wet. Common areas where mold develops after water damage include drywall, insulation, wood framing, subfloors, and HVAC systems. An inspection after water damage helps determine whether conditions exist that could allow mold growth.
Is mold testing necessary if mold is visible?
Not always. If mold growth is clearly visible, laboratory testing may not be necessary to confirm that mold is present. However, testing can sometimes help identify the types of mold present, determine airborne spore levels, or establish baseline conditions, particularly during real estate transactions or post-remediation verification.
What happens during a mold inspection?
During a mold inspection, the inspector evaluates the property for moisture sources, building conditions, ventilation issues, and areas where mold growth may occur. Tools such as moisture meters, thermal imaging cameras, and hygrometers are often used to assess building conditions. If necessary, air or surface samples may be collected for laboratory analysis.
Do mold inspections look at the entire house?
In most cases, yes. Even if concerns begin in one room, mold and moisture issues are often related to larger building conditions such as humidity, ventilation, or water intrusion. Looking at the broader property helps identify the underlying cause of the problem rather than focusing on only one symptom.
